I was born in Swansea, Wales to Welsh parents: well, my father's parents were both Welsh, going back through the generations whereas my mother's father was from Italy and her mother was of Scottish-Irish descent. We settled in Plymouth when I was five and that's where I was brought up.
After going to school in Plymouth, to a girl's grammar school and then a Further Education College where I managed to get 3 A's and the prize for best A-level results in my year, I went to the USA to work as an au-pair..and ended up staying there (Chicago and Seattle) for 3 years.
Later I moved to London and studied History and Politics at Queen Mary College, University of London. I later qualified as a History teacher (secondary) but again got itchy feet and went off for adventures in Asia. There I got into English language teaching, in South Korea and Japan, as well as travelling to India, Nepal, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Phillipines, Vietnam, Laos and Thailand.
Back in London I got married and had two children, while teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages to immigrants at an East London sixth-form college.
In 2005 we all moved to Zaragoza, Spain where, after a stint in primary schools, I started teaching and researching at San Jorge University. I did my journalism training while working there, through an online course at London School of Journalism and the rest is history....
My specialist areas are Spanish current affairs, effects of the economic crisis and social movements, as well as educational and language issues and travel.
I am especially interested in interviewing anyone in Spain about how the economic crisis is affecting them.
